I used to tell people how great my insurance was considering the high cost but my view has recently changed.
I recently had a baby by normal, vaginal delivery with no complications or problems of any kind. I would like to note that I am 37.
My problem is with my bill. The hospital charged $2447 and the insurance paid them $2336. That leaves a balance of $111. The problem: they want me to pay $489. I would not have a problem paying $489 if the insurance company had only paid them $1958.
After 2 hours on the phone I was told that Asuris contracts with the hospital to pay $2800. I am therefore expected to py the difference between my lesser charge and $2800.
I had asked for an itemized bill but if I find a mistake I would have a hard time letting them know. For instance, if there is a charge for $200 in medication that I did not recieve and was to point it out, I would OWE another $200.
I currently have an appeal in with the insurance company and will happily make sure I keep appealing until they have had to waste more time and money than I.. |
